Timeless, fashionable timepieces
Coach as a brand needs no introduction. Founded in 1941 as a family run workshop specializing in leather goods in Manhattan, and growing to become an icon in American fashion and luxury. Though not at the same level of aspiration as its European counterparts like Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta or Burberry, the brand is still the go-to place for modern working-class women looking for affordable (relatively) high quality fashion pieces. From coats, and bags, to wallets and watches. And that’s what we’ll be looking at today, their watches. Subtle, distinct and quietly luxurious, these are the words that can be used to describe the brand’s timepieces. Mirroring the brand’s ethos for its renowned bags and leather goods, their timepieces are elegant statement pieces for the modern woman. Whether you’re in a clean white blouse matched with a pair of jeans and Chuck Taylors for a weekend out, or in a Maxi, paired with your Georg Jensen earrings and Manolo Blahnik stilettos at a gala dinner. There’s always a timepiece to match the occasion in Coach’s collection, and today, we’ll be taking a look at 10 of their most fabulous watches. (In our opinion of course)
COACH PRESTON 14503461 WOMEN'S WATCH
Before we start, let’s get this out of the bag, because unless you’ve been oblivious (deliberately or not) to the icon of women’s timepieces, you’ll almost instantly recognize the design inspiration of this timepiece. I am of course talking, about Chanel’s J12, a timepiece that popularized the use of ceramics as a case material in modern watchmaking, can only be described as a modern classic, and is also, one of my guilty pleasures when thinking about my next luxury watch. To put another way, when it comes to fine luxury watches, men have the Rolex Submariner, and women, they have the J12. But we’re not here to look at the J12, we’re here to look at this, the Coach Preston 14503461. Not everyone is capable of shelling out thousands of dollars on a timepiece, let alone a fashion icon. But with the 14503461, you get a slice of that iconic design, similar form factor and wearing experience (albeit with the use of steel instead of ceramics), at a fraction of the price. Though, it does still have Coach’s signature design cues as well, with the Gold toned C logo sitting atop the date-window for an added touch of flair from the brand. The watch is nicely finished and refined with a fine brushing along the entire surface of the watch, zirconium crystals inlaid on the inner ring of the dial and a black polished bezel with simple markings and nicely contrasting gold tones too. All in all, as a fashion statement, the Preston 14503461 is not the most ground breaking, but it was never meant to be. It’s a the brand’s take on an iconic design in fashion with their own unique flair and at a much more accessible price.

COACH PRESTON 14503214 WOMEN'S WATCH
The next watch we’re taking a look at is the perfect all-rounder, versatile enough to be paired with a suit for the office, and with a pair of jeans for the weekends. The Preston 14503214 is an elegant yet sporty triple register timepiece that is not only gorgeous to look at, but incredibly practical as well. It displays the time, yes, but also a 24-hour indication, along with the day and date too, all in a clean and highly legible package. The detailing on the dial are striking too, with a nicely brushed sunray finishing, as well as applied rose-gold coloured indexes and sub-dial rings too, giving and added sense of luxury to this rather affordable timepiece. The watch is cased in a 36mm stainless-steel case that is finished in a cool, sleek gunmetal grey PVD, with a matching bracelet and a contrasting rose-gold bezel as well. The Preston 14503214 is a fantastic example of Coach’s design values as a brand, elegant, simple yet subtly distinct from the crowd, and if you’re looking for a versatile all-rounder, then this is certainly the watch for you.

COACH DELANCEY ANALOG QUARTZ GOLD STAINLESS STEEL 14502813 WOMEN'S WATCH
The Delancey 14502813 is a beautifully novel timepiece that you should certainly pay attention to and its one a strong contender to be my favourite looking piece out of the lot. First off, it’s a simple watch, with a simple round gold case, simple soldered lugs that links to a simple 5 link gold bracelet and of course, a simple black dial with 3 hands telling only the time and not even the date. So why is this simple (and borderline boring sounding) timepiece worthy of your attention? Well because its beauty, and simplicity is executed wonderfully. The dial, simple as it is, has lovely applied indexes in different shapes and sizes; Cones, pyramids, stars and spheres. It sounds like a mess on paper doesn’t it? But the reality is much, much better. The novel indexes really remind me a lot of the novelty timepieces from Van Cleef and Arpels (albeit mechanically speaking and pricing wise, they’re on two completely different planets). The dial being like the night sky with the stars and the moon (spheres), it really casts a romantically dreamy image doesn’t it? I’m a sucker for novelty pieces like these, my favourites being the aforementioned Van Cleef and Arpels Midnight in Paris, and A Lange & Sohne’s Aventurine dialed Saxonia. But these are incredibly cost inhibitive watches and unless you’re willing to shell out a mortgage for them, the Delancey Analog is a fantastic substitute, and a beautifully charming one at that too.

COACH PERRY GREY 14503524 WOMEN'S WATCH
And keeping with the theme of visual poetic novelties, we have yet another very strong contender to be my favourite looking timepiece out of the lot, along with the Delancey that we’ve looked at previously. For the same reason too. Unless you’ve been reading this article with your eyes closed, you’ll have immediately noticed the similar visual cues that this Perry 14503524 shares with the Delancey. With a novel astrological themed dial, decorated with crystals and stars in rose gold and a smoky blueish grey, the Perry 14503524 eludes the same charms of the Delancey but in a less subtle and much flashier way. But it is still done tastefully, the beautiful smoky grey, brushed sunray dial complemented with the applied stars and set crystals paint a beautiful picture of a galaxy on your wrist. Matched on a warm rose-gold case and bracelet, the Perry offers a real visual treat for those looking for a timepiece that can not only give you the time of the day, but also an entrancing view of the cosmos every time you look at it.

COACH PRESTON 14503262 WOMEN'S WATCH
Bringing us back to something more subtle and minimal, we have the Preston 14503262. And if you’re in the market for an easy to wear, every day watch, then this is certainly the one for you. The watch is finished in a stealthy all-black PVD stainless-steel case and bracelet that is neatly brushed, adding a nice touch of refinement to an otherwise sporty looking timepiece. The dial is a simple affair with zirconium crystals running along the periphery as hour markers, one for each hour increment apart from 3 O’clock which is occupied by the date wheel. It is an otherwise very minimalistic, sober timepiece apart from the applied Coach C logo on the date window that adds a tasteful bit of flair to the watch. One thing I do find interesting is the inclusion of a rimmed bezel, which gives the watch a nice sportier feel to the overall dressy design, making it that much more versatile for everyday wear. One last thing I’d like to add about this timepiece is its execution of its design, an all-black watch would tend to be rather plain, low-key and sometimes, hard to read. But with the Preston 14503262, thanks to the contrasting hands and bright crystal markers, it is an incredibly legible timepiece and a refined one at that too thanks to the level of finishing on the case and bracelet.

COACH 14503221 WOMEN'S WATCH
Moving away from the stealthy and subtle all-black Preston, and into something a bit more; loud. If you couldn’t already tell at this point of the article, then this watch should be the most telling sign that I’m a sucker for striking dial designs. Since we’re on the topic of the dial, lets start with that then. It’s a beautiful smoky iridescent blue, that fades darker as it gets nearer to six O’clock. You can catch different hues of colours depending on how the light plays off it, sometimes its purple, sometimes it’s a clean smoky grey. Of course, that would be enough to make the dial eye catching already, but Coach has also decided to ‘monogram’ the dial with their iconic C logo which at a distance, gives the dial an almost stained glass-like appearance which is very, very cool. The case is a relatively simple affair, fortunately, given the already complex dial, it’ll be much more tasteful to have a traditional and unfussy case design which Coach smartly chose to go with. Featuring an in-set crystal bezel, polished stainless-steel case and bracelet along with a nice gem-set crown as well for a lovely finishing touch. The 14503221 offers great versatility whether you’re wearing it to the office, or for a night out, all eyes will be on you wherever you are with this stunning timepiece.

COACH CHARLES 14602471 WOMEN'S WATCH
The dress watch should be a staple in everyone’s closet, whether you’re a man or a woman. A dress watch that is versatile enough to be worn for almost any occasion, is a welcome bonus too, and that’s what we have here today; The Coach Charles 14602471. Its, a simple watch, with almost no frills in its design whatsoever, and that’s what makes it such a versatile accessory. With slim silvered baton hands and applied markers, on a clean textured brown dial, there’s nothing to throw off the symmetry of this minimalist timepiece apart from the applied C logo at 3 O’clock. The case is a similar affair too, it’s a slim, svelte design with a slim bezel and slim lugs that leads to an elegant Milanese mesh bracelet that is, you guessed it very slim as well. Subtlety is the name of the game with this watch, it doesn’t shout for attention or demand that you look at it, it does its job well quietly, telling the time and always being there without you noticing it when you don’t need to. And that’s what makes this watch work so well for me, with the trend of overtly minimalist timepieces from the likes of Daniel Wellington, Paul Hewitt etc. It is nice to see a more refined take on that design which is distinctly Coach and also, a great every day wear dress watch as well.

COACH 14503510 WOMEN'S WATCH
From the most subtle timepiece on the list to one of the most striking to look at, the Coach 14503510 is undoubtedly one of the prettiest watches we have on the list today. It shares a similar perfectly rounded case design as the 14503221 we looked at previously, albeit a lot smaller at 26mm compared to the 14503221’s 36mm. It’s an elegantly dainty watch, with a gem-set bezel, with rose gold trims on the crown and lug screws adding a warm touch of colour to an otherwise cool design. The dial is where this watch really comes into its own, featuring a gorgeous floral cut out on a white textured dial that is beautifully detailed down to the petals, set against a pair of rose-gold hands too. The two stepped dial, shares 2 different textures as well, adding a sense of depth that we can really appreciate. With the outer half in an almost mother-of-pearl like finishing and the floral half treated with some clean striping to represent the petals of the flower. The watch comes in an equally elegant Milanese mesh bracelet too that completes the overall feminine design very nicely and elegantly too. Overall, the 14503510 is certainly a watch worth considering if you’re looking for a versatile, elegant timepiece that offers a refined level of finishing and an incredibly unique dial design.

COACH PRESTON 14503478 WOMEN'S WATCH
Coach’s Preston line offers a great range of stunning watches, and the last of the series that we’ll be looking at today is the 14503478. Coming in a beautifully polished gun-metal case and bracelet, the watch gives off a uniquely stealthy yet refined design that is complemented nicely with the coloured crystals and dial. The bezel is gem-set of course, with grey, white, light and dark blue crystals that offers a really lovely visual treat. The dial too, is in a deep sunburst blue, with matching polished blue hands and markers too. Though legibility isn’t really compromised here with the hands, dial and markers being blue on blue on blue, thanks to the contrast in finishes. Measuring in at a moderate 36mm in diameter, it’ll easily fit most wrist sizes and with the gunmetal finishing and gems, it is certainly an eye-catcher, albeit a tasteful one. All in all, it’s a great all-rounder that is perfect for any outfit or occasion that you’ll never want to take off.

COACH ALLIE 14503382 WOMEN'S WATCH
We can’t have a list of the most fashionable ladies’ watches to get without looking at a square shaped watch, can we? Though technically a rectangle, the ‘square’ watch design was popularized and defined since 1917 by none other than the Cartier Tank. It is an icon in watch design and high-fashion, amongst the nobility of old as well as those who still want to feel regal to this day. And owning one personally (The more masculine MC version), it is an absolute joy to have. But what if you want a square watch without having to break the bank? Well we have this, the Coach Allie 14503382. If you’re looking for a square shaped watch but prefer a dial and design that’s a bit more modern while still retaining the elegance and dressiness of the Tank, you’ll certainly love the Allie 14503382. Cased in a stainless-steel rose-gold PVD case, measuring in at a dainty 19mm in diameter, with matching rose-gold bracelets, the watch is a delicately feminine timepiece with some bold and distinct touches from the brand sprinkled around. The shape of the case, for one is worth noting too, its incredibly slim, both in height and width and that length extends to slim lugs that curve downwards elegantly, giving the watch a much slimmer profile on the wrist. And the bracelet of course, that is beautifully adorned with Coach’s trademark C logo throughout gives this otherwise sober timepiece a nice hint of flair. All in all, if you’re looking for a timeless, design and don’t want to contribute to the ocean of round watches around, then the Allie 14503382 is certainly the watch for you.
