Being in our line of work for a while, we’ve seen and handled countless types of customers. Being on multiple platforms; Facebook live, E-commerce and retail, there’re many opportunities for us to meet and interact with our customers. Whether they’re demanding, or easygoing, inquisitive or refuse to even acknowledge our retail staff’s existence at all. We’ve narrowed down ten of the most outstanding and memorable types of customers we’ve faced and for them, the watches that we would recommend them in a heartbeat if we were serving them. Though do note that this list is made all in good fun, and beware, many pop-culture references and inside jokes lie in wait. Whether they’re enthusiasts querying about certain watches, or a budding collector wanting to learn more, we’ve had our fill of inquisitive customers. And that’s not a complaint, we love sharing our knowledge and experience with them, whether its exchanging views and information with seasoned collectors or imparting new information and knowledge on a budding collector, it’s always a joy to have these guys around. So, watches that’re cult classics that will always remain timeless, with a rich history and a unique flair will certainly be a great appeal to these guys.

This is probably the customers that we see the most, and more often than not, we’re exactly like this when we’re out shopping. The ones that just want to window shop or look for something interesting on their own, we can really relate with these guys. And normally when they do find something that they actually want, they’ll look for assistance instantly. For these guys, we’d recommend them something that is either very unique, or something that will easily win over any enthusiasts’ heart.

We’re all for hearing interesting anecdotes and its really great fun listening to some of the stories our customers will share with us. Whether they’re young or old, some customers have really been through a lot in life, or at least had some rather interesting experiences too. Whether its watch related or not, some of them just love sharing these stories and it’s a really great way for us to get to know them better too. Having done live streaming for nearly a year, it’s a really eye-opening experience and one that I enjoy very much. Getting to interact with all sorts of people and learning about them without ever actually meeting them. That being said, when it comes to buying and selling, we always need an ever ready and enthusiastic one to get the ball rolling. And with the early birds, its always a laugh having these guys around when we’re simply showing a watch and a “$1 start bid” pops up in the comments. So, for these guys, watches that offers the best value proposition are certainly the choice purchases for them.

We’ve covered our first type of livestream viewers, and now this is the second one. With every starting bid, we need someone to continue the bidding for us. And when it comes to this guy, the concept of escalation seems to have gone out the window with their bids. We’ve seen bids jump from 200 to 250 to 300 in single bids and it’s not surprising considering the sort of people they are. They see something, they like it, and they’ll snag it no matter the cost. So, for them, watches that are a bit more premium and attractive are certainly they’re best bets.

Whether they’re store regulars, online regulars, or livestream regulars, its always a joy to have these guys around. They’re the ones who tend to know us and our bosses by name and often look for us even when they’re not purchasing a watch. Though they do come with the obligatory ‘Wah I support you guys for very long le, got special discount mah?’ we’re more than happy and appreciative of their loyalty and support. We all know the sort, whether you know them or are actually one of them, some customers simply have an obsession with more exquisite timepieces. More often than not, these are true enthusiasts simply looking for something unique and interesting to add to their collection. Or they’ve got a model in mind and are on the hunt for their dream watch. And often these guys tend to be a joy to talk to having insightful knowledge and views on watch collecting. So, for them, timepieces that’re interesting, exquisite and made by true watch makers in two regions that’re watchmaking super powers are certainly the go-to option for their next purchase.

This is probably every staff’s dream customer. They’re chill, don’t really need much and are often a joy to talk to. Whether they’re here to browse, shop or to send their watch to be serviced, they don’t demand much and are very understanding too. And this attitude blends with their choice of watches too, often times they’ll be looking for something that’s reliable, easy to wear and unique as well. So, our recommendations for them are some very reliable, every day wear watches that can be easily matched without much thought and still look good no matter the outfit.

Most of us have been here before, it’s their birthday/valentine’s day/Christmas/anniversary and when it comes to a watch for ourselves, it’s not really that much of a headache. But a watch for someone else (especially your S/O), it can be quite challenging. Sometimes the clueless ones can also be customer type 1 or 2, and this shouldn’t come as a surprise. They may be budding collectors, or are not even in to watches but may be looking for a gift to get someone or are just looking to get their first watch. They may not even know what they don’t know and we’re always happy to share our knowledge and insights with them and lead them to the right watch. So, for them, something that is affordable, reliable, timeless and sometimes interesting in its heritage will be on the top of our minds when recommending them something.
